Summary "Throughout the nineteenth century a host of composers in German-speaking Europe wrote lieder, often to texts by Germany's most famous poets. Among the thousands of songs, many are both intrinsically beautiful and fascinating when compared with more famous settings of the same texts. This edition offers thirty-four works, from W. J. Tomáek and Conradin Kreutzer in the early nineteenth century to Bernhard Stavehagen at the beginning of the twentieth. None has been available previously in a modern edition." -- Provided by publisher.
