Summary Varicose veins are known to affect approximately one third of the population and lead to reduced quality of life for patients. The traditional method of treatment has been surgery, but over the past decade, minimally invasive techniques have gained increasing prominence. These have been found to be easier to administer, less expensive, have shorter recovery periods and enables a more rapid return to normal activities.
