Summary
At the DOE Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program Annual Merit Review and Peer Evaluation Meeting, NREL presented progress and accomplishments for the 'Turboexpander: Alternative Fueling Concept for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Fast Fill' project. This project was awarded through DOE's H2@Scale CRADA Call to investigate the performance of a turboexpander device. A turboexpander is capable of cooling pressurized hydrogen gas as it drops in pressure from the station supply. NREL has designed and is building a proof of concept device using a drag turbine. Test results will be published and will be used in future projects.
