Summary |
The ARIES Collaborative, a U.S. Department of Energy Building America research team, partnered with NeighborWorks America affiliate Homeowners' Rehab Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts, to implement and study improvements to the central hydronic heating system in one of the nonprofit's housing developments. The heating control systems in the three-building, 42-unit Columbia Cambridge Alliance for Spanish Tenants housing development were upgraded. This is the final report of a 3-year project, including two and one half winter monitoring seasons. During the first season various control settings and system configurations were altered as the systems were adjusted to maximize comfort and energy savings. During the second and third seasons, control settings were adjusted a few times on schedules intended to provide data to compare various techniques, including indoor temperature controls and nighttime setbacks. |
