Summary Anemia is defined as the decrease in hemoglobin from normal values either by loss of red blood cells or deficit in production or both. Hemoglobin is the major transporter of oxygen. The variation in hemoglobin is therefore a factor in determining the cardiac output. This book begins by discussing the effects anemia has on heart diseases.
