Summary Mr. Matsumoto's study provides German readers with an overview of Japanese social security law. Its uniqueness lies in the perspective that is taken: Current reforms in Japan are reported against the background of reforms in Germany. This not only enables a comparison of the paths taken in Germany and Japan. Instead, the German reader who thinks he knows "his" right has a completely new perspective on this right, namely that of a foreign observer from the outside.
