Summary Excerpt: "This study of home management houses in Negro colleges was made to determine what additional preparation the Negro home management house teacher needs. The home management houses studied are in Negro colleges that have home economics departments affiliated with the Vocational Division, United States Office of Education. In order to make the study a survey by questionnaire and [sic] interview was made of the training and experience of the teachers, aims and objectives of Negro home management residence courses, and the problems of the teachers of such courses. This study indicates that Negro residence teachers should have a course especially designed to fit their requirements. The needs revealed are: 1. Additional training in psychology, sociology, family relations, advisers to women, child development, and home economics methods. 2. The observation of well organized home management houses or a course in residence especially designed to create proper group relationship and a managerial program of child care."
