The use of smartphones as analytical detectors has emerged as a new trend in the chemical analysis field, providing several unprecedented characteristics such as geolocalized semiquantitative results at the point of need combined with real-time communication. Integrating smartphones into chemical analysis tools has been a challenging task requiring multidisciplinary expertise.
