Summary Excerpt: "Clothing practices have changed considerably during recent years. Under the low labor costs of late years ready-to-wear manufacturers have offered values in ready-to-wear garments which have caused a decrease in home sewing. Notwithstanding this fact pupils in the junior and senior high schools spend much time on the construction of clothing in this ready-to-wear age. Therefore, the home economics teacher is confronted with the question of the place the construction of clothing should have in the school curriculum and of the choice of the related units that should form a part of the curriculum. It seemed a solution of this problem might be found if a detailed study were made of the clothing practices of junior and senior high school girls and of the homes represented by them; information, therefore, was gathered from selected groups of students and homemakers in Kansas City, Kansas."
