Summary |
Three films document efforts by ordinary people to overcome the political status quo. Can Mr. Smith get to Washington anymore? is the story of Jeff Smith, an underdog candidate who seeks to overturn one of Missouri's political dynasties in the race for the U.S. Congressional seat of retiring House Majority Leader, Dick Gephardt. Granny D goes to Washington is the story of 89-year-old Doris Haddock who walked across the entire continental U.S. in order to garner attention for the issue of campaign finance reform. Clean elections : changing the face of America, narrated by Bill Moyers, chronicles the success of publicly funded campaigns in several states. |
