Summary |
Three films explore the dilemmas and potential advances in energy. Burning the future : Coal in America chronicles the journey of a group of West Virginia residents who have dedicated themselves to educate a world blind to the devastation caused by coal's extraction: toxic groundwater and the obliteration of 1.4 million acres of Appalachian mountain and foliage. Fighting Goliath : Texas coal wars reveals an unlikely coalition of Texans who are fighting a high-stakes battle for clean air as they oppose the construction of 19 conventional coal-fired power plants. Powershift explores the enormous potential of clean, renewable energy as part of the WorldLink education initiative to transform public understanding of the energy issue and encourage constructive social change.--Summaries from insert. |
