Summary |
This collection of statements, resolutions, and essays is designed to demonstrate the concern among conscientious objectors about the conscription of their financial resources for preparations for war. Some of the statements are centuries old, and reflect the universality of the concern over the payment of taxes for military use. The majority of the statements are much more recent, and are included to call attention to the deliberations of a wide variety of religious and non-religious persons and groups. Many denominations gave begun to advocate the U.S. Peace Tax Fund Bill, which would grant conscientious objectors to military taxes the legal alternative of redirecting the military portion of their federal income taxes to nonmilitary government activities. |
