"Dunbar Elementary School, 923 N. Cleveland Wichita, Kansas."
Summary In recognition of Dunbar as the last of the original African American separate elementary schools in Wichita, Kansas. The African American community in 1927 chose a softer and quieter name of equal prominence to give to its newly adopted elementary school at Ninth Street and Cleveland Avenue, Paul Laurence Dunbar. Dunbar Elementary would redefine the art of educating elementary school children from the African American perspective.
