In this masterly biography, Edward Dent presents a straightforward and sympathetic account of Busoni's life and musical career, and a marvellous insight into the many-sided, warmly human personality of this somewhat enigmatic musician. Although the book does not aim to include detailed analyses of the works, Dent provides several valuable eppendixes-including a list of Busoni's piano repertory and a complete catalogue of his music (both original and edited). There are a large number of photographs and a comprehensive index. |
