Summary |
"What was supposed to be the most exciting pregame entrance ever for KC Wolf almost cost me my life. On a wintry November afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium, I gazed out over the empty field as I prepared to practice the bungee jump and zip line stunt that would have the KC Chiefs crowd going crazy the next afternoon. As I launched myself from the lights 260 feet above the football field, the stunt went terribly wrong. Instead of experiencing the breathtaking adrenaline rush of soaring above the field, immediately after takeoff I plummeted into stadium seats. Strapped to a harness, I hung like a rag doll, struggling to breathe. The pain was excrutiating, and I shook uncontrollably. Trying to maintain focus, I glanced back at my starting point and then down at the tarp below me. A red trail stretched from the sideline to midfield; although I was in shock, I had the presence of mind to realize it was my own blood. What had gone wrong? Where was I bleeding? Why couldn't I breathe? I whispered a prayer, "Lord, I'm scared. Please help me."--Back cover. |
