Five people are trapped under the sea in an experimental tanker sunk during the War. They not only survive and have children and grandchildren but keep their brains alert by playing the 'Game'. Simultaneously, a race of water-dwelling aliens leaves its distant world, which is disintegrating, to colonize the oceans of the Earth.
