Summary
Pegg's narrative of the massacres of the crusades against the Albigenses and Cathars looks at the period's fervor for cleansing the world of heresy, and the fear that Christendom was being eaten away by heretics. He argues that this holy war changed Western civilization and led to the creation of the Inquisition.
