The 1st Spanish ed. was published at Zamora in 1542, under title: "La relacion que dio Aluar Nuņez Cabeca de Vaca de lo acaescido en las Indias en la armada donde yua por Gouernador Paphilo de Narbaez desde el aņo de veynte y siete hasta el aņo de treynta y seys ..." The present ed. is a revision of B. Smith's translation privately printed at Washington in 1851 from the second Spanish ed. published at Valladolid, 1555.
