Summary To develop effective and cost-efficient remediation of abandoned mines, several watersheds were examined whose water quality was presumed to be impacted by historical mining activities. This report provides an overview of the scientific rational provided by the USGS to make decisions related to the design and implementation of cleanup actions and to summarize preliminary data. The effects of various remediation options are also considered in this report.
