Summary In this work, the important late antique orator Libanios turns to the Roman Emperor Theodosius to win his support for the preservation of pagan temples that are threatened by fanatical Christians. Above all, Libanios points out the importance of the pagan sanctuaries in terms of cultural history and identity.
