Funded by the JISC and based on a University of Bristol Department of Historical Studies project, Visualising China is an open-access image resource for more than 8,000 digitized images of photographs of China taken between 1850 and 1950. Launched in July 2011, it includes material from several collections--in particular from Historical Photographs of China, the Sir Robert Hart Collection, and Joseph Needham's Photographs of Wartime China--and from Google Books. Users may search or browse across the collections and conduct Boolean searches, refining results by date, viewing geotagged map results, and exploring connections between results.
