Summary The Eastern Wind Integration and Transmission Study is one of the largest regional wind integration studies to date, examining the operational impact of 20% and 30% wind energy in the Eastern Interconnect and the transmission expansion needed to achieve those wind energy penetrations. This paper reviews the scope of the study, the development of wind datasets, the transmission expansion analysis, and the results to date of the wind integration analysis for the four scenarios.
