Summary Older migrants in Germany, who are actively shaping their lives to the best of their ability and have not yet given up their desire to participate in society, have so far received little attention in research and practice. In the practice of social work, in community work, and in migration and integration projects, the older generation of immigrants has so far played hardly any role. This is where the AMIQUS research project came in, the sometimes surprising results of which are collected in this volume. The conditions and resources, but above all the barriers to a reasonable lifestyle in old age were examined. The basic assumption was that developing and strengthening neighborhood support systems and supporting processes of self-organization of one's own interests in the residential area is an essential key to social participation.
