Each chapter deals with some aspect of the culture of the North American Indian. Described through the experiences of individual Indians are the social or religious significance of such things as the making of a medicine pipe, the winning of a war bonnet, the painting of a new tepee, the decoration of a ceremonial mask and its use in healing ceremonies.
