A collection of nearly 5000 documents submitted to various offices of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and its predecessor agencies. Coverage includes: states' strategies for development, management and monitoring of coasts, beaches, and seashores; environmental impact analyses; environmental policy and zoning statements; ecological and physical surveys of marine and estuarine waters; chemical and physical oceanography investigations; monitoring of beach and shoreline erosion; land use planning; management of non-point source pollution; and development of waterfronts.
Provenance
Works originally were published between 1951 and 1999 and collated from approximately 1975 to 2000. Most works were submitted originally to the NOAA Office of Coastal Zone Management and its successor, the NOAA Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM), by state coastal zone management programs. After collocation by NOAA's Coastal Zone Information Center and Coastal Services Center (CSC), the collection finally was archived and cataloged by NOAA Central Library in the 2000s. Finally, the collection was ingested into GPO's online repository, FDsys, digitally preserved, and made available to the public in 2011.
