"The only authentic contemporary records of the epic migration known as the Gold Rush are the journals which a few of the Forty-Niners kept while they were in transit. This book is principally the text of a journal begun by Vincent Geiger at St. Joseph, Missouri, and continued by Wakeman Bryarly from the North Platte until his arrival in California.
