Summary The physical Carnival collection (Manuscripts Collection 900 in the Louisiana Research Collection) consists of 102 linear feet (130 boxes, 2 map cases and 24 oversized items) and is itself continuously growing; this set of digital surrogates is in the process of being built, for ongoing inclusion in the LOUISiana Digital Library, over several years. Float designs and costume designs of the "Golden Age" of Carnival (late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries) are being digitized during 2011- . Digital surrogates of subcollections also appear in the LOUISiana Digital Library; search there by institution Tulane University for sets being created from original artwork in this collection.

Original Location Original artwork, papers, printed material, photographs, and other Carnival memorabilia are housed in the Louisiana Research Collection, Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA 70118. Items in the physical collection relate to New Orleans and Louisiana Mardi Gras parades and other festivities, from the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries.
