Brown rock house & barn, Simon graves and a brick store building. Cato was founded in 1854 by John Rogers who moved to the area from Ft. Scott. E.J. Boring established the first post office in 1958 and named the town Cato. Cato is the oldest town in Crawford County. It had the first county fair, school, coal mining operation, and grist mill in the county. |
