Summary
Author Joe Vaughan's "Thomas Johnson's Story and the History of Fairway, Kansas" is the first book chronicling the incredible and controversial life and times of one of the Pre-Civil War Era's influential figures in the Kansas Territory (the pre-statehood years of 1854-1861). Vaughan's book offers the depth and detail into Johnson, much of which has not been previously revealed. In addition, one of Kansas City's most loved suburbs-- Fairway, Kansas is the site of Johnson's Shawnee Methodist Indian Mission Historic Site. The Mission was a manual training school for Indian youth.
