Summary |
This is a book of divergences. It could not be otherwise if it is one of the results of thinking about what it means to be anti-capitalist as the second decade of the 21st century is about to conclude. After having gone through the socialist experiments, the dictatorships of the Southern Cone and the restoration of democracy, and then the rise and precipitous exhaustion of progressive governments in Latin America, we continue to ask ourselves, what meaning can we give to the term anti-capitalism? What implications does the concept have? Is it useful to us or does it challenge us or, on the contrary, does it dialogue little with the diverse realities of the different latitudes of the continent? Can the concept of emerging sociability be useful to identify other practices, outside of systemic or local hegemony? This work, the result of the Anticapitalism and Emerging Sociabilities Working Group, is built around these questions. |
