Summary |
In 1894 Pittsburg became the site of the ordination of the second female Baptist minister in the world, Miss Edith Hill, who caused the mambership of the First Baptist Church of Pittsburg to jump from 93 to 233, gaining the first 100 during a five-week revival which attracted so many listeners that, according to a contemporary account, "her meetings overflowed the YMCA rooms into vacant store buildings" nearby. |
