Capes as an Afrikaans colloquial variety is considered by different authors from various angles. The book covers nine chapters in two sections which look at the linguistics and the contextual uses of Capes respectively. It is based on papers delivered at the first symposium on Kaaps in 2012. Kaaps is presented in the book as a dignified, linguistically nuanced and vibrant form of Afrikaans. The economic potential of Kaaps and its utilization as an educational and journalistic medium is also discussed.
