Summary The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has been working with the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) to analyze the potential that hybridizing Xcel Energy's two nuclear power plants in Minnesota might have. The hybrid nuclear power plants would maximize sales of electricity when its price is high and reduce electricity sales to maximize hydrogen production when the price of electricity is low. This presentation summarizes the project's approach and status and communicates future direction.
