Summary A graphic novel account of the life of Benjy Melendez, the son of Puerto Rican immigrants who founded the notorious Ghetto Brothers gang in the Bronx, New York, at the end of the 1960s. Focuses on Melendez' and the Ghetto Brothers' efforts to promote peace in the down-and-out Bronx borough and the gang's weekly concerts on the streets or in abandoned buildings that led to the emergence of hip-hop music. Also relates Melendez' efforts to reconnect with newly discovered Jewish roots.
