Summary
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) is an independent agency, founded in 1947, which provides mediation services to industry, community and government agencies with a mission to: promote the development of sound and stable labor management relationships; prevent or minimize work stoppages by assisting labor and management to settle their disputes through mediation; foster the establishment and maintenance of constructive joint processes to improve labor-management relationships, employment security and organizational effectiveness. The site covers resources for resolving labor-management disputes, building labor-management relationships, alternative dispute resolution, and education and outreach services.
