Summary
The Encyclopedia of Cognitive Science (ECS) captures current thinking about the workings of the mind and brain, focusing on problems that are as old as recorded history, but reflecting new approaches and techniques that have emerged since the 1980s. Modern cognitive science emerged as a discipline on the 50s onwards (the history and pre-history of this field are traced in an overview article). It represents the convergence of ideas about mind and brain from a variety of disciplines, and as such is under constant revision.
