Summary In a parallel world William Shakespeare is not a bard but a historian, and in this world the events depicted in Shakespeare's plays are accounts of historical fact. A misdummer tempest is set in the era of Cromwell and Charles I, but in a world where the English Civil War is coeval with the Industrial Revolution. Prince Rupert, captive of the Roundheads, falls in love with his captor's niece Jennifer and is rescued with the help of Oberon and Titania.
