Summary "Le sacre stimmate di San Francesco d'Assisi (1695) is the most completely preserved musical score by Maria Anna von Raschenau (1644 or ca. 1650-1714), a canoness at the Augustinian convent of St. Jacob auf der Hülben in Vienna. It was one of a series of at least seven oratorios written for her sister canonesses in the decades around 1700, a golden age of convent music in this city. Raschenau's attractive music blends early baroque Italianate style with Germanic influences and is fitted to the resources of her convent. This edition is the first publication devoted to the recently discovered music of this fascinating baroque composer." -- Provided by publisher.
