Contents Correct thing -- Cooking terms and what they mean (1949) -- Pay to the order of... (1949) -- You are the star -- Solid gold hours / Monty Woolley -- Your voice is showing / host, Patric Knowles (1965) -- Checkstand procedure (1948)
Note The Correct Thing (b&w) demonstrates the proper way people should behave at work via contrasting secretaries. Sally dresses in conservative attire, is always on time, and has lunch with the boss without thinking it's a social invitation. Blonde Cora, on the other hand, dresses like a floozy, sits atop a desk gabbing, then yaks it up with "the company playboy!"
Cooking Terms and What They Mean (1949; b&w) presents us with a newlywed who gives us visual definitions of such complicated concepts as "Boil," "Stir," "Beat," "Dredge," "Brown," "Scald," and "White Sauce."
Pay to the Order of (1949; b&w) has a dreary banker telling a slow-witted store clerk all about the Wonderful World of Writing Checks.
You Are the Star (b&w) reveals "The Drama of Retail Selling" by showing us how to be the best damn sales clerk in the whole wide world!
Solid Gold Hours (color) stars blustery Hollywood veteran MONTY WOOLLEY (The Man Who Came to Dinner) as Mort Time (get it?), an assistant to Father Time, who teaches a gal how to help mortals find "more time for selling." It's simple: trim the time in between sales meetings and interviews and you can get 30 minutes more a day for extra sales!
Your Voice is Showing (1965; color) has PATRIC KNOWLES (Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman) acting as host while a bunch of then-familiar bit-part comics demonstrate various kinds of "telephone discourtesy."
Checkstand Procedure (1948; b&w) shows how the "modern" supermarket cashier of 1948 copes with customers by being "a practical psychologist." That means bagging groceries correctly, and not acting "like an unfeeling robot."
