Summary |
This report documents the biological and engineering characteristics of five algal and bacterial hydrogen production systems selected by DOE and NREL for evaluation. Those characteristics are divided into three areas, namely, basic science, biology, and engineering. Since basic science assumptions are strongly correlated with biological parameters, they are provided first. Hydrogen production capabilities are a function of the reactor bed design so those details are provided in the engineering section of this report. Because product hydrogen product is combined with other gases, the characteristics of a gas separation system will be given additional attention. The last section of this Task B report utilizes the information collected to estimate a final result, given as a cost per unit of produced hydrogen. |
